Raw Cake Workshop by Ripe and Nine at Lu-Ma Cafe

On Wednesday 22nd February Ripe and Nine will return to Lu-Ma Cafe for The Raw Cake Workshop

 

Ripe and Nine is a health conscious cake company creating desserts that are free from dairy, gluten, wheat, soya and refined sugar. Usually raw and mostly organic, all of our cakes are vegan friendly and packed full of superfoods using only natural ingredients.

 

It all started with a trip to Australia 2 years ago where I fell in love with their focus on health and the café culture. I was bowled over!... the eateries we visited were filled with raw ‘free from’ treats that not only tasted unbelievable but looked stunning and I couldn’t wait to try my hand at it when I got home!

 

When the experiments began I posted my sugar free efforts onto my social media pages and before I knew it I had an audience of people asking for cake. I was eager to learn more and spent 8 months working as a dessert chef at a brilliant raw cake business in Shoreditch. It was then that I began to sell my own creations to Lu-Ma and it wasn’t long after this I made the decision to go it alone and in mid 2016 Ripe and Nine was born!

 

The motive for me was the health element. Most of my favourite cakes are full of sugar with lashing of cream, so to develop versions that eliminate those things is heaven on a plate! But there are lots of other reasons why the interest in raw cakes is growing including veganism, allergies and benefiting from the nutrients of food in its natural state.

 

In two weeks time team Ripe and Nine will be hosting a raw cake workshop and there are still a few tickets available! The evening will kick off with an introduction to raw baking covering all the equipment and ingredients you’ll need to get started. As well as tasting cake all throughout this masterclass we will demonstrate and create four exclusive recipes. All free from dairy, gluten, wheat, soya and refined sugar. You’ll get to take all your creations home with you along with recipe cards so you can do it all again in the comfort of your own kitchen!
